SCHOOL BUS STEEL WALL CRASH

 .

The SCHOOL BUS STEEL WALL CRASH was first done by stuntman Tricky Travelstead. This SCHOOL BUS STEEL WALL CRASH pictured on the left is performed by Crash Moreau at the Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, NY June of 2005 at the annual Eve Of Destruction night of racing. Crash along with his side kick Wildman Al will once again be at the Valley on Tuesday night June 21, 2006 with a couple new thrilling stunts.

The SCHOOL BUS STEEL WALL CRASH is where you have a junk school bus standing on it's rear  bumper, than you come down the track at a high speed with another school bus and crash into the standing bus flipping it up in the air and  hopefully pass underneath the flipping bus.

SPLITTING THE SCHOOL BUS

On the Sunday, before Memorial Day 2004, at the Thompson International Speedway in CT., Daredevil Jim Crash Moreau drove a stock school bus thru the side of another school bus that was placed across the front strech of the track. Going at a high rate of speed he crash broad side into the bus, splitting the bus into two pieces. On impact the steering column came in on him, pinning him between the steering wheel and the back of the seat.

THE BARREL CRASH OF THE 90's

At every performance of Crash Moreau's Thrillmasters you will see one of Crash's stunt performers attempting to do the Flaming Barrel Crash. This act has been copied by a few other thrill show producers. They have cut back to only 5 barrels and maybe 5 gallons of gas which makes this act look like nothing to the spectators. When we do this stunt, we place at least 10 barrels in 2 rows and up to 10 gallons of gas and than ignite the gas. At times we will blow up the car that goes thru the barrels into a ball of fire. The stuntman will attempt to drive into the flaming mass with a stock automobile and no fire protective driving suit on. The top picture was one of the first that was done. The barrel crash was first done in the 30 and 40's with wooden barrels. One stuntman was killed performing this act at Soldiers Field in Chicago in those early days when a wooden barrel exploded.
In these modern days we use metal barrels as we can reuse most of the barrels for another crash or two. Today only a few places can you find wooden barrels which would cost you an arm and a leg and only be good for one crash. Drivers that performed this act for Crash Moreau was Rick (The Barrel Crasher Cook) from Winston / Salem, NC and Gary (Loonie Tune) Conklin from Syracuse, New York area.

TRASHING THE CAMPER TRAILER

This is where Crash Moreau set up a spectacular stunt for Wildman Al to perform at the Lake Erie Speedway. Crash had Wildman Al fly a stock auto into a parked camper trailer and come out the other side totally demolishing the trailer into a pile of sticks.

THE 15 CAR PYRAMID CRASH

Crash Moreau performed the feature stunt at Autodrome St-Eustache in Quebec, for the show called Festival De Cascade. The stunt was a 15 car pyramid crash. The pyramid is built with 15 junk auto than around 60 feet away you set up a high ramp and leap a stock auto into the middle of the pile. The only protection that he wore was a crash helmet and a leather coat. He used a stock seat belt and no roll-bars.

THE HUMAN BODY RAM

The Human Body Ram is where a stuntman is placed standing up on a platform in front of a car. While being strapped on so he will not fall off, he is than driven thru an 8 foot high solid wooden barrier that has been set on fire. This act was first done by a local stunt performer in the area of Denver back in the late 70's. Jim thought it was such a spectacular stunt that he brought it back to the east coast. This act is real as there is no faking it. It tops the regular human battering ram where a stuntman lies on the hood of a car and crashes thru the barrier as been done for years on every touring stunt show in North America.

SNOWMOBILES IN THE WINTER

Crash Moreau was one of the first  snowmobile ramp to ramp jumpers in the 70's. This is the best picture of one of his first jumps at Appleton Wisc. The temperature was 2 below zero at the time of the jump. He used an old Allouette 440 for the jump. Later  that year he cleared 9 cars. But today, there are X riders who do the same distance jumps with a back flip.

SNOWMOBILES IN THE SUMMER !!!!

Crash took his Allouette on summer tour
one year playing fairs in the south and a
few grass drags in the northeast. He used
his sled for 3 different stunts. He used his
sled for a flaming double wooden barrier
crash, a flying flaming wooden barrier
crash, than a 30 foot tunnel of fire. The
two pictures  are the flaming barrier crashes.
